Adoption Criteria

If you currently have any unaltered pets, do not apply to adopt one from us. Only 20 percent of kittens born in the U.S. live past their first birthday. The rest are abandoned, run over, killed by other animal, or euthanized at local animal shelters. Those that survive often become absorbed into the feral population. We are dedicated to improving the lives of all animals and believe that the key is prevention (through sterilization) and education.

All of our cats are “indoor only.” We do not adopt indoor/outdoor or outdoor-only cats. Many of our cats have been rescued from difficult lives on the streets, and it is our intention to provide them with the safest possible homes.

We only work with the primary caregiver of the animal. If you have a friend or relative that you think would bond well with one of our adoptable cats or kittens, they will need to contact us in person. We don’t adopt cats or kittens as gifts.

If for any reason, the adoption is not successful, the cat MUST be returned to the custody of Feral Friends.

We strongly discourage but do not prohibit declawing. Four-paw declaws are not permitted under any circumstances.

You must be prepared to devote time and attention to the pet and meet its social and emotional needs, as well as physical ones.

Adoption Fees:

$105.00 for Adult Cats (one year and up) - $185.00 for two

$135.00 for Adult Declawed Cats - $245.00 for two

$135.00 for Kittens (one year and under) - $245.00 for two

This fee covers: For adults: test for Feline Leukemia and Aids, spay or neuter, vaccinations (FVRCP and Rabies), worming, flea/ear mite treatments, micro-chipping, a complete veterinary examination and any necessary medical treatment. For kittens: test for Feline Leukemia and Aids (on two kittens from a litter or on the mother), at least the first FVRCP (the adopter assumes responsibility for any additional vaccinations not yet received), worming, flea/ear mite treatments, a thorough medical exam and any other necessary medical care. While we never adopt a cat or kitten that we have reason to believe is ill or has been exposed to disease, there are no adequate tests for certain viruses. We adopt out cats in good faith, but cannot guarantee their continued good health.

If you are interested in a particular cat, please fill out an adoption application. Adoption applications may be sent via e-mail to adopt@feralfriends.org or faxed toll free to 1-866-865-6671.
